Meet our Pastor
Richard W. Hill is the founder and pastor at Word of Life Bible Fellowship. He was born, raised and matured in the Word at Second Olivet Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of two great preachers, the late Rev. William A. Mack, Sr. and Rev. H. Bernard Alex, where he served in several capacities including usher, junior deacon, Sunday School Teacher and president of the Anointed Voices of Olivet.
In January of 2002 Rev. Hill preached his first sermon at Tucker Missionary Baptist Church (TMBC) under the careful and watchful eye of his father in the ministry the honorable Rev. Dr. Leslie J. Johnson II. While being guided by Dr. Johnson, Rev. Hill was afforded the opportunity to experience his grandfather in the ministry the late Dr. E.K. Bailey, founder and pastor of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas at the E.K. Bailey International Conference on Expository Preaching.
It was Rev. Hill’s privilege to serve as Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries at TMBC from March 2002 until September 2007. The ministry experienced tremendous growth numerically, spiritually and in knowledge of God's Word. Rev. Hill also continues to serve as Chaplain of the Historically Black Church Campus Ministry at Syracuse University. He has been blessed to be in this role since March 2003.
Rev. Hill has been privileged to teach Christian leaders and laity in a number of settings including Northeastern District Baptist Association Young People's Dept., City Wide Church Growth Conference, Covenant Fellowship of Churches Leadership Training, Historically Black Church Campus Ministry at Syracuse University, and Associate Ministers Enrichment Network (A.M.E.N.). Rev. Hill has also been given the opportunity to share God's Word with many churches locally and nationally. Rev. Hill's present professional affiliations include Chaplain's Counsel at Syracuse University, the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School Alumni, Syracuse Area Youth Workers Network, A.M.E.N. and the E.K. Bailey International Conference on Expository Preaching.
Rev. Hill graduated from Oswego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Math Education. Later he received a Master of Divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, New York and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio.
Rev. Hill has been married to the former Valerie Tibbs since October 2000 and they are the proud parents of one daughter Lydia.
